Amsterdam seen in a different way.
Let's get the folding bike out of the car and you're ready to get to know Amsterdam from a different (water) side in 24 hours. A first tip that we will check out is the Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk. You can spend a whole day here; starting with an organic breakfast at Vinnies http://vinnieshomepage.com/ and then exploring new small brands at Restored https://restored.nl/ and the creative ladies behind Sukha https://www.sukha.nl / to get to know. It is a very diverse neighborhood (read... a lot of coffee shops ;-)) where the side streets also hide gems such as the delicious slow coffee at Toki http://www.tokiho.amsterdam/ . If you fancy honest and sincere cuisine, choose Foodware (seems like an advertising slogan) http://www.foodware.nl/ . Here you put together your own meal from the preparations that the chef offers that day and you take it home or enjoy it on the spot. Also a tip that ends up in our app Mapstr. Based on circular ideas, our Northern neighbors have started working on the vacant lock and bridge houses. Via Sweet Hotel https://sweetshotel.amsterdam/ you can spend the night in a mini lookout post over the water. We enjoyed the unique panorama of the Ij from Westerdoksbrug 301. Again, highly recommended.
But there is also a lot to experience on the other side. This is how we get to know NDSM https://www.ndsmloods.nl/ . It is a vast creative place that you can easily reach by ferry. Many gigantic halls house artists, start-ups, thrift stores, etc. together. Of course we had another delicious (vegetarian) meal in Pllek http://www.pllek.nl/ . The Northern Lights http://noorderlichtcafe.nl/ is also recommended to us, but our 24 hours are over far too quickly. So no excuses to return soon and let's just say… there is a lot of entrepreneurship in the Dutch, they are efficient, think in the here and now and dare to fail. We have again received a baggage full of inspiration. Thank you Amsterdam.
