How do I clean and care for my shoes?
CLEANING AND CARE OF SHOES
Cleaning and protecting children's shoes requires care not to damage the material.
Here are some general steps you can follow:
1. Remove coarse dirt: tap the shoes together or brush them to remove excess dirt or mud.
2. Cleaning method by material: check the material of the shoes and follow the correct cleaning method:
- Smooth leather shoes : use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the leather. Children's shoes are used intensively and therefore need to be cleaned and fed regularly. Mud, sand and dust are the playground of children's shoes. Use a cleaning brush to remove the largest dirt first. Then clean the leather with a cleaning foam (14) and a cleaning cloth (15). Always apply the foam to the cleaning cloth first and not directly to the shoe. If your soles have turned gray, use the midsole cleaner (17)
- Suede/nubuck : have your shoes become dirty? Do you have spots? Then let this dry first. Dirt residues can then be removed with a soft brush. To remove stains on suede and nubuck, use the Suede Nubuck Box (20) to gently rub stains off the shoe. The block has a soft side for mild cleaning and a crepe side for a more thorough effect. For stubborn stains, use the cleaner stick (4). If necessary, you can clean with a damp cleaning foam (20). Always apply the foam to a microfiber cloth or brush first and not directly to the shoe. And always polish both shoes completely.
You can refresh the color of Nubuck or Suede with the Nubuck + Textile bottle (7). Thanks to the sponge on the bottle, it is possible to work very precisely. This makes it suitable for combination materials and light soles or stitching. Can be used for all open structure materials such as suede, nubuck and textile.
- Metallic : take care of the metallic with the collonil shine cream (9). This is a nourishing cream without color, but with shine particles, which will ensure that the metallic remains beautiful and shiny for longer.
- Patent leather: patent leather shoes add an extravagant touch to any outfit. The plastic layer that is applied to the leather creates a high-shine effect. Patent leather is a material that requires love, attention and maintenance to continue to shine. Because paint has a dense coating, a protective spray cannot be absorbed. Impregnation is therefore not necessary. However, paint quickly attracts moisture and dirt because it is quite static. Lack Mousse (10) has an anti-static effect, which means that the paint attracts less dirt. The mousse is easy to apply to the shoe and only needs to be rubbed with a clean cloth (15). The Lack mousse (10) provides a full foam that also retains the elasticity and shine of the paint. The addition of elasticity reduces the chance of cracks in the paint. If you want to give your paint an extra shine, you can do this with the Lack Polish.
It can just happen: you bump your shoe against something and unfortunately a piece of the paint layer flakes off. You can repair minor damage to the shoe by carefully marking it with a thin layer of nail polish in the same color. Please note: this tip only works if the color of the nail polish exactly matches the color of the lacquered shoes.
- white sneakers: are your sneakers dirty? It is best to clean them with a cleaning foam (14). If you want the soles to be radiantly white again, clean them with the midsole cleaner (17) in combination with the microfiber cloth (15). Can also be used on colored midsoles.

- Greased leather: children's shoes are used intensively and must therefore be cleaned and nourished regularly. Mud, sand and dust are the playground of children's shoes. Use a cleaning brush to remove the largest dirt first. Then clean the leather with a cleaning foam (14) and a polishing cloth (15).
- other material (fabric/canvas) : remove surface dirt by using a soft brush or cloth. For deeper cleaning, you can wash the shoes by hand with a mild detergent and cold water. Follow the manufacturer's washing instructions.
3. Dry the shoes: Allow the shoes to dry naturally, away from direct heat sources. If necessary, fill them with newspaper to keep the shape and absorb moisture.
4. Protective spray: use a shoe protective spray that is suitable for the material of the shoes. Spray the shoes evenly and let them dry completely. Spray them from a distance of 30 cm and let them dry for 30 minutes and repeat this every 30 days. An impregnating spray (1) works as a 'spray-on membrane'. This creates an invisible structure that provides extremely strong protection against moisture and dirt. Water droplets slide off the material like pearls, without affecting the breathability of the shoe.
5. Regular maintenance : Repeat these cleaning and protection steps regularly to keep the shoes in good condition. Also keep an eye on the soles and replace them if necessary.
